it is no wonder the jewish leaders had ridiculous rules concerning the sabbath.
the following scripture alone should instill fear of those forsaking the sabbath.. (numbers 15:32-36)--"now while the sons of israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.
33and those who found him gathering wood brought him to moses and aaron, and to all the congregation; 34and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

hello all... i currently studying the bible teach book and i'm just curious what information does the study conductor record about the student and is it passed on??
and they keep on saying "the truth" which is starting to get on my nerves.
lol.
Kulotti, while those conducting your study may accept you as you are for now you will definitely have to 'quit' being gay at some time in the future for them to consider maintaining the study.
I also highly recommend reading Ray Franz's book Crisis of Conscience to see how the Watchtower treats people for the pettiest of reasons. Be sure of this, the Watchtower is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
can you add or subtract from the following list of introductory questions?
the aim of the questions i'm looking for, is to determine the level of integrity of the witnesses at your door.. .
if you didn't have the truth, would you want to know it?.
"Is it true that your religion had a link with the UN?"
I would reword that to emphasize the importance of the UN to any outsider not familiar with the JWs. My wording would be: Is it true that your religion believes that the United Nations is an evil organization yet is a (non governmental) member of it?

"Also, yes, the penalty was proscribed prior to his error."
That appears to have been for blasphemy but if it was for any commandment why then the ignorance of those who arrested the Sabbath breaker?
Incidentally, the Ten Commandments were changed drastically in Exodus 34:1 which adds to the confusion. Especially when you take the last - and most absurd - commandment into account (Exodus 34:26b).

"...but my point was that regardless of what we might believe. In this book that man saw all of those things, was given 10 rules by the being who did those things for him and he agreed to follow them."
What do you believe?
"Then he didn't. And he died, which he was told would happen if he broke them."
To my knowledge not all of the Ten Commandments were enforced with the death penalty. Was the Tenth Commandment, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:17 NIV) , enforced with the death penalty?
And no, he and those who arrested him were not told that breaking the Sabbath would lead to death as is clearly stated in the previously cited scripture:
"...and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him." Numbers 15:34 NIV

Jonathan, I think your comment above is a reflection of your soul.
if you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.
its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.
there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

Jonathan Drake: "There is a significant different between these two events. In numbers the man purposely went out to work, and did work - he broke the sabbath."
And that justifies the execution? Such a 'god' is exactly what inspires dictatorial hearts like that of the Jehovah's Witness governing body.

adjusted knowledge: "I'm not a bible scholar but it just seems like a lot of contradictions throughout the bible."
A good source list for those contradictions.
